Mixed Media stuff

Here's some photos of the cover of the Worlds book.

This sucker's unusually large.

Did tons of studies for it, some of which are arguably better than the final version.

The reason i used this unfinished version is because it just seemed most of my art is flawed and 'imperfect', like we are in real life.

I used to be afraid of mistakes, but whatever I have to offer isn't not technical realism.

I don't really know, or care what category my stuff falls into. Lucky with all the street art mixed up happily with so called fine art, it's all an overlap isn't it? It is very cool all this mixed media stuff snuck into comics in the 80s, thanks to Jon. J. Muth, Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Sienkiewicz, Bisley...

.. without these guys, i don't think i'd have had the guts to try all the crazy crap in those old Maxx comics.

Maxx, Dana/Nola, Chickens, various Mechanical Crap lying around my studio...

Recent Maxx cover i painted a while back for IDW's reprints..

Art from the half-finished  Nola/Dana Graphic novel. Hard to see here, but there's random clock & mechanical parts worked in.

Various family relatives of mine, who are incorporated into my Twout-a-verse artwork.

Same Dana/Nola art, another angel. Yet another one of my 'sam logos'...

Think I'll work of these miniature mechanical parts into future Maxx covers.  Otherwise they'll just get tossed into a land-fill once i croak.  May as well put them to some good use while i still can, instead of gathering dust in these little cubby holes over my art table.

Since I enjoy doing them.. think I'll keep paiting new Maxx Covers.. past the first 35 issues i've already done.  May as well just keep numbering them for fun... 36... and on... i'll throw up new ones up here on the blog, as they pile up.

CHICKENS:

You know, Chickens started out as just something to amuse Jon and myself, but there's some interesting stuff in there, a wide variety of styles, way-different things than i'd have done without Way$hak.  Playing off each other.  Pushing ourselves.

Not all of what i did works in it, but... looking through the older pages, a lot of it holds up much better than i remembered. Even the not-s-great pages.. stretched me outside my comfort zone... thanks to Jon's creative influence.

We may as well finish it off and collected the sucker in some book form... just for the heck of it.
