Maxx cover, In-Progress.
Sorry to throw up another Maxx post, but at least this one's new, i inked Julie since my last Maxx post of this one.
I also threw in a giant snake, which will look better after it's finished too. Maybe add some highlights to his flat looking back?
Getting there . . .
stay tuned.

Bimbo Girl's Eye & Abstract in Black..
Ever since Boston I've been getting folks asking about buying some of artwork, or when i'll do a commissions again. Here's the deal, the guy you wanna email to is not me, it's Albert Moy.
Check can also contact him directly at Albert's email, or click the new swell "Wanna buy some of my Artwork?" box (above the pic of the Magic Trout, on the right hand list of blurbs & links boxes.)
Albert is there to do . . . what i don't *wanna* do . . . which is sell my art directly to my fans.
I know many folks may not realize this, but if Albert says i don't wanna sell something, or i am "not doing commissions right now" - then he's not a bad guy,
he's just delivering the news, the straight-poop on what i wanna do.
Promise.
Thanks for being so cool about it you guys! Now back my the usual dose of goofy surreal pics i keep plastering all over this blog..
You guys are awesome, all of you!!!!!!

Wow, whole lotta comments on that last post.
Didn't realize i was opening up the "possibility of future Maxx stories" subject with what I said. Just meant the old series was out of steam n' ideas.
Will take all this under future advisement: who knows what's down the pike?
dunno.
Raven's says "Krawk",
for whatever that's worth.
Thanks for all the support everybody!

Two Curious Onlookers
There are two creatures witnessing this picture. One, from above, one below. First curious onlooker:
. . a little plastic skeleton my wife planted in my studio,
looking down from over my art table.
Lately i've been trying to do more frequent posts, but only of one or two images.
But for this post, i've indulged in several more pics of it, mostly to show some texture that got lost when i first posted this image many years ago.
Obviously this is fabric, but there's also some goofy addition, acrylic, cinnamon, sea sand, fixitave, and even some glue. Detail that gets usually lost when it's usually scanned or photographed.
Though it's technically not one of my stronger faces, i was going for some of that 'ugly grace' that Egon Schiele's women seem to possess. Not comparing my and his work, but you probably know how i meant that. Just as an example of style.
It's quite a bit larger than what i usually stuff, as you can see from the Pink Shades Dude on the right, for size comparison.
Which brings us to our second curious little onlooker . .
. . down in the left corner.

Eleanor cover
New comic Chew writer (and old pal of mine) John Layman is writing and i'm drawing called Eleanor and the Egret.
Here's an short IGN interview with us talking about it.
Interesting to compare the original art with the finished piece. I did it on watercolor paper, so it's has a rough organic texture to it. I kept in various 'flaws' in the girl figure, because i didn't want it to look to slick or perfect.
Dunno if that worked, maybe not. Somewhat "idealized", but hey - i can be proud that she looks a lot less glamorous and more ordinary in the inside pages.
Every woman i draw eventually morphs into Dana's heavier proportions (which is the same body type as Wonder Woman cover girl) . .
. . . but be it heavier folks, thinner folks, guys or gals,
it's all good.

Bats in the snow & a Couple from Nola
On this winter's day, here's a snowy shot from a Batman Confidential story i did many years ago.
-----------
And here's a panel of Nola's Dad. Nothing to do with Batman, but just thought I'd throw him up here too, for variety.
And lastly, in Nola's book, Raven likes to land in the snow on Bison's back.

Wrapping this up . . .
There's probably a couple dozen Maxx half-finished covers lying around my studio,
I tried to stay light on Julie's face here..
.. to balance out all the crazy detail on Maxx's arm..
...it's not finished yet, but very close.
Don't ask me what the pink and brown stuff is.
I have no idea.
Okay.
This sucker's pretty much done.
Have a warm & dry Monday everybody.

Stages of My Inner Bimbo
Seems like a million years ago when i drew My Inner Bimbo.
It started with a couple of rough sketch like these above.
--------
Here's a earlier version from my art book.
You can see some rougher colored pencil texture on her skin.
------
... and here's the printed version, after i smoothed out her skin with an airbrush.
( Click Twice on it, to see more detail. )
Okay, which version to you like better?
