Here's a couple pics of the 'B' (variant) cover to "BatMaxx" 1, although i prefer the two A cover, of the two 'facing each other' more.  

This one's sorta wonky, but that's cool too.

By now most of you have probably heard the Maxx will return in a new Batman vs Maxx mini series I'm writing and drawing . . .

. . with special thanks to my old pal John Layman, who helped hammer out the plot.

Confession, i didn't really draw the pants. 

Maxx Page Comparison

On the Left is the original un-printed version of a Maxx page from issue 11.  It's okay, but Maxx gets lost and i wanted the focus more on Maxx, and less on the distracting overly-painted room . . .

. . so in the re-painted the page on the Right, i opted for a less saturated room, and gave Maxx a lighter color pallet to match it.

There's no right or wrong here, but sometimes Less really is More.

Spidey-Hulk Cover

Another cover gig.  Notice how I squished the X-men off to the side so I'd have more room to draw  favorites like the Hulk and Spider-Man.

Weird . . . the things you take for granted.

Outback Creature

Originally intended as a cover, this got used as a Maxx trading card instead.

I usually don't like my own stuff, but I love how lose, abstract and deliberately unfinished this one is.

some Jeffrey Catherine Jones 'Idyl' style rocks,

and a few goofy-looking greek philosophers,

Nightcrawler

I didn't draw Nightcrawler very much, but whenever I did,

he was always unusually skinny.

'Bunny Maxx' meets 'Horse Maxx'.

Interesting story about this piece, originally it was a story page . . .

. .  but after I did it, I decided  to use it as a 89 cover instead.

I kinda prefer the original B&W to the colored version.

One of four, this is a Remarqued print of Maxx 2 cover, sometimes called the 'Butterfly Print'.

I rarely do remarquing prints, but thought I'd throw these four up on the blog over the next few days.

The part I added (remarqued) here, is the Maxx head along the bottom. 

Wall of Heads: Two Versions.

First version I did for a Nemsis cover way back in 89.

And here's a commission version I did for a fan, where he had me add some more familiar heads with Lady Death out in front. 

Maxx: Sara's Journey

Sara(h) almost died three times in the Maxx.

First was her attempted suicide.

Second was floating away into the light.

----

Last was turning into an Isz, then going off to live with Mr. Gone in the Outback.
