Finding My Own Style . .

 

Some feedback I got from a lot of editors when trying to break into comics was that my style looked too derivative of Bernie Wrightson. 

It took several years to find my own style.

I really like some of the textures in this one.  

Especially the stringy stuff in the upper right corner.  

Maybe I should do a Maxx piece in this style?

Unusual Maxx Cover

This Cover is different in several ways.  

First the Maxx is pretty abstract, even for me. 

Second is that's an actual plastic dolls eye pasted onto the painting. 

Third is the majority of it is in pastel, which is rare for me as I usually use watercolor or acrylics. 

Also here's a jpeg of all 12 months of the Calendar , which is on the Kickstarter page too, but what the heck.

Kinda cool - I've never done one of these Kickstarter things before!  We'll see how it goes.

It's a lot bigger than I expected.

Some of the Calendar art  was  printed larger than the original art, so it hold up pretty good, considering. 

Even the Giant Slug turned out pretty cool.
