Venus/FOM/Nola: Bison Comparison

On the Left is a hand painted version,

and the Right is darker, digitally tweaked version with a watercolored background dropped in.

Which one do you like better?

As an experiment , I tried to  blend in my own hand drawn textures with cut-outs from photos of food and other micro sized textures.

Not to fool anyone, the difference between pen/brush and real life photos are obvious.

But more as an exorcise . .  to better understand textures. 

Underground Comix Cover

Before I broke into comics, I was always drawing comic book covers for a stories that I was too lazy to actually finish.

This was one of those. 

Dr Weird - from 'I before E vol. 2'

Here's an unpublished Dr Strange parody i did during my small press days,

which later found a home in  the currently out of print 'I before E'  collections.  But their pretty cheap on eBay.

I'm too lazy to dig out and scan the originals,  so here's a cleaned up version from the book.

The sleeveless shirt and B&W mask & tights didn't last long.

The pony tail soon morphed into the 'feathered head-dress' for the Outback version of Maxx.

The fine folks at the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund needed something for their SDCC Charity Auction.  

I found this lying in the back off my closet. Slightly smudged, but not too shabby.

I signed it, stuffed it in an envelope -

and hopefully it will do some good for someone.

like everything else on my plate, it's horribly late.

But it should be an interesting book once it's . . *guilty cough* . . . finished . .

and collected as a trade.

Dunno if any other comic artist did this kinda goofy stuff or not.  Kinda makes the original art interesting to look at though.
