Maxx Painted Panel & yet another Tree, ( . . . well more like a Stump actually.)
One of the bonuses of printing in the 90s was being able to paint random panels into your comic book pages , then let the colorist finish up the rest.

Not a Cover . . .
. . this one was a trading card.
Also notable because it's one of the few times I drew Maxx . . .
. . . with a Black Headdress . . .
. . and Skinny Legs..

Three Versions of 'Maxx & Julie Toe Nail' page
First the original.
Then the painted version.
Last, late at night, just before they disappear, echoing the first toe nail page.

Process Part 3 of 3: New Maxx Cover
Time to wrap this up and color the Crock-a-Flamingo's body.
There ~ ! That bright pink body sure does Pop.
Finishing Maxx's head helps a lot too.
Interesting to compare the Pic version . .
and here's the Scanned version.

Process , Part 2 of 3: New Maxx Cover
Here's a few more pics of this one . . .
Dunno where I got the idea of crossing. . .
. . a Crocodile with Flamingo.
Course I'm still not finished yet, so unsure if I should add more moss on the tree . . .
. . . or just leave it?

Process Part 1 of 3: New Maxx Cover
I must have a couple dozen of these half finished Maxx covers lying around the studio. This Outback creature is half Crocodile and half Flamingo.
Unfortunately there's no actual Maxx comic book story to go along with this cover.
So maybe it's not really a 'cover,' just more like a splash page, or a pin up.
But I figure finishing it up is better than them just lying around and gathering dust. Better darken up that moss on that tree.
Crock-a-Flamingo is a pretty goofy idea, but then so is a Crabbit.
