Now, pic wise, here's something you could call a  "Maxx Sandwich".

Two previously posted shots of one of the newer painted Maxx cover form the top piece of bread...

... and a few NEW fashion doodles stuck in-between, are the "Middle" stuff.

Here's a question. I'd like to do a couple more art books, one would be a collection of "Sam Kieth Women."  The other would be on Trees.

But someone suggested i just put them both subjects.."sam kieth women" and "sam kieth trees" in one single book.

Probably doesn't matter, and maybe their somewhat the same fans of my stuff regardless..

You can tell in this one my pen/brush was running out of ink while finishing on her hair..  what's fun about these Tree/Fashion ones is their so different from the obsessively detailed stuff style I'm most known for.

Wasn't until half way through the Maxx that i had the courage to loosen up a little.

Play with deliberately distorted faces... on the other hand, do i really know how to draw any other kind? : )

And the bottom half of the sandwich again. Sorry to keep throwing these painted covers up, but unless they've been following the reprints, some people kinda haven't seen them yet.

So thanks for your patience if i throw them up a few more times.The old classic covers have a 20 year head start on these newer ones don't they?

New Painted Maxx Cover 23...

 

Vintage "Spidey Art" resurfaces

Here's some pin-up artwork i did a million years ago for the old Sam Raimi Spider man feature on DVD. 

Forget which version of Spider man it was on, I lost the dvd years ago ... maybe someone out there remembers? 

While drawing it, I asked Sony if I could add Ditko's name on the wall, along side Stan's - and luckily they agreed.  Even though I respect Ditko's reclusive nature, in some humble way i wanted to pay him some respect for all he's done for all us fans over the years,  so much pleasure his work's brought into our lives. 

If memory serves, IDW did the Spider man dvd menus designs, and that explains how editor Chris Ryall came across it by accident while IDW was  preparing to move offices last week.  Thanks Chris, for digging it up. 

I also see it's complete with the goofy "sam kieth style duct tape" around the borders too. Weird the stuff one comes across while moving.

Here's another pic, a little closer on the two of them. I actually prefer this version to the black and white version in the Maxx comic, but personal prefe's are always subjective...  apples and oranges.

Some Ghosts from Hallows..

Page from another short story i did years ago... ( don't ask me to post the rest, this was probably the best of it)..

A unusually *horizontal* Hallows panel. Sorta inspired by Dr. Strangelove-esk war room design.

Some cartoony looking boys picking on a little girl, while a baby Martian worries if he's the next victim.  Strange all the strange characters, situations and atmospheres one creates when drawing a comic-book.  I can't think of a more surreal way to earn a living, dreaming up goofy stuff.

Another day, another Maxx Cover..

Actually it's not "new", but unless you happened to pick up that month's re-colored Maxximized Maxx comic, then you may not have even noticed.

So just throwing it up again. Julie's a little unfinished here, but that's what i intended.

I also think it's funny that i keep forgetting to use taller paper, so i have to extend it, and work that into the art, but i like the fact it's never a smooth transition. It's kinda raw, clunky, like my art is. I'm proud of my underground roots, and that i'll never qualify as a "normal" or "mainstream" comic artists, whatever that means.

As this simple goofy Mars panel here clearly shows.
